Mission Statement
KMUD's Mission and Policy statement
KMUD's basic policy is perhaps most succinctly expressed in the station's motto: "To entertain, to inform, to inspire."
Throughout the 13 years the station has been in operation, we have been, and will continue to be guided by the intent to provide a full range of entertainment through music and the spoken word, reflecting and stimulating the taste of our listening audience.
It is also our feeling that with the increasingly rapid occurrence of important events which seems to characterize our times, it is vital that the citizenry of a democratic society be kept informed with regard to these events. In addition, we feel it is a primary responsibility of th emedia to provide a broad spectrum of "public affairs" programming. Much of our programming is intended to be not only informative, but uplifting as well, in keeping with our sense of a strong contemporary need for the deepest possible context for current events, as well as our desire to be responsive to the special character of our comunity.
We are truly a "people powered" radio station: not only are we one of a handful of public radio stations who are completely dependent on our community for support we are also dependent on the community for our day to day operations, with one hundred and twenty volunteer programmers and six full-time staff.
With three tranmitters in operation it is our intention to provide as much as possible of the Humboldt, northern Mendocino, and western Trinity County area with the highest possible quality programming, guided by the above principles.
