The three victorious candidates in the Supervisor's election all won outright, avoiding runoff elections in November.
In the U.S. congressional Representative 2nd district Race Democrat Jared Huffman took top place with 27% of the votes in this 12 candidate race, while republican candidate Daniel Roberts tallied 19% of the total votes necesitating a run off between these two candidates in the November election.
Meanwhile, the Humboldt County Elections Transparency Project is working to take digital images of all the ballots cast in the county, which will then be made available to the public so anyone and everyone can conduct recounts however they see fit.
Humboldt County Registrar of Voters Carolyn Crnich said the transparency project - which uses an optical scanner to take images of every ballot cast in an election, which are then made available to the public along with open-source tabulating software - currently has volunteers scanning ballots with the hopes of having images available to the public by the middle of next week.
