According to a press release from Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, dated Nov. 22, 2011:
On Nov. 21,2011 at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a 61 year old Bridgeville resident who reported he and his 59 year old wife were the victims of a home invasion robbery which had just occurred. The male victim reported, at approximately 9:50 p.m., he and his wife were in their residence located in the 1900 block of McClellan Mountain Road, Bridgeville, when a car drove up their driveway. The male victim opened his front door to greet the vehicles occupants who had now exited the car and were walking towards the residence. The two males told the victim their car was stuck in a ditch and they needed assistance. While the victim was speaking with the two males, another male approached from the shadows carrying a shotgun. The victim immediately ran into his residence and the suspects chased after him.  After the three suspects and two victims were in the home, the suspects held the victims at gun point and ordered the male victim to open a gun safe. After the safe was opened, the suspects ordered the victims to lie on the ground, and the suspects tied them up with duct tape.  The suspects then rummaged through the victims home, stealing all electronic communications devices, along with their computer, gold pieces, gold coins and a woman's gold  ring with a large diamond with several ruby’s, and some cash. The suspects then fled the scene leaving the victims tied up.
