According to a Press Release from the Humdoldt County Sheriff’s Office, dated July 17, 2012:
On 07-14-2012, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of possible drug activity occurring in the 5100 block of Vance Avenue, Eureka. When deputies arrived they met with suspect David Bollig, 33 years old of Eureka along with several other people, including Bolligs’ 11 year old son. A records check on Bollig revealed he was on probation for child endangerment with a search clause. When deputies entered Bolligs home they saw two plastic soda bottles containing a white powdery substance near the television set with green fuses sticking out of the top of them. The deputies exited the home and notified the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad who responded to the scene, along with Humboldt Bay Fire department. The bottles were removed by the Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad which rendered them safe.
Bollig was arrested for possession of an explosive device, violation of probation and child endangerment. He was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where his bail was set at $50,000.00. His son was released to a relative.
