It may be a natural, but it's stressful. - 2008/07/06 05:38 Hello K-Mudders. Wow, these fires! I live in Burnt Ranch, but I am currently hiding out in Blue Lake. I went up to the ranch today, my son's birthday, to assemble his drumset, the smoke was doing it's usual, heavy in the morning and thining out in the afternoon.
We worked like dogs to limb and clear as much of the forest surrounding our place as we could, but in the end, all you can do is hope for the best. It really brings it all home when you start choosing what items you want to save and what you will let go of. It is amazing how much I am willing to let go of. Things are not that important. It's the people you care about that are important.
I know there are a lot of people in Southern Humboldt going through the same things as we are. God (whatever that means to you) be with you. The translator is out for 88.3, and where we are staying has dial-up, so we can't get it online. but I had been listening to previous updates, and once again I am reminded just how important KMUD is to all of us. I realize that in SoHum, there is also KHUM, but for those of us up north and east, there is only KMUD. Thank You, I know that even as I type this, Simon and others are trying to get the translator back on line. I can't say enough about KMUD and the people who dedicate their time, talent & treasure to it.
Ok, enough gushing. Keep it up KMUD. thanks again, I will be waiting to hear your sweet voice again soon.
