REPORTING:
The Director of Operations (DOO) will be a strategic partner and reports to the Executive Director (ED),
providing overall administrative direction to the organization’s programs and grant requirements.
THE POSITION:
As a senior member of the leadership team, the successful candidate will co-lead and develop an internal team and
be a hands-on and participative manager in in day-to-day administration, finances, operations, and personnel,
including, but not limited to: grants and contracts compliance, budget reporting, human relations and information
technology. In partnership with the ED and Two Feathers leadership team, this individual is responsible for
supporting the vision and direction of the organization to fully accomplish its mission, and to further develop it
into a high performing, financially sustainable operation during a time of accelerated growth.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
To better serve community needs and further a community-wide vision of hope, Two Feathers has grown ten-fold
in the last three years, from a staff of four to a staff of 26, along with a cadre of consultants. The Director of
Operations (DOO) will partner closely with the ED to lead the organization with focus on the following priorities:
• Grow, improve, and align programs to meet evolving community needs, including youth and their families and for those with special needs who aspire to break systemic barriers which limit educational attainment and/or economic self-sufficiency.
• Ensure financial sustainability through increased revenue and sound financial stewardship.
• Develop and expand management systems and infrastructure, including data-driven measurement and continual assessment of organizational effectiveness.
• Amplify the voice and influence of the local Native American community in decision and policy making.
• Enhance the trust, credibility, and authenticity of Two Feather’s engagement across all demographics in the Humboldt County region.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizational Growth & Leadership
• Partner with the ED to provide vision and oversight of program quality and growth by developing and executing on its strategic plans and facilitating its operations utilizing a timely, transparent, and cohesive approach.
• Work closely with the ED to learn agency needs and goals to best support program operations.
• To maximize efficiency, improve and maintain organizational infrastructure, including management systems, operational policies and procedures, personnel hiring and retention practices, facilities, procurement, finance, record keeping systems and maintenance to maximize efficiency and support future
growth.
• Maintain a focus on continuous improvement and organizational capacity building.
Financial & Grants Management
• Provide transparent fiscal stewardship of Two Feathers, ensuring appropriate resource utilization and operation of the organization in a positive financial position, including grants management.
• Work with the board and accountant to develop and approve annual revenue and expense budgets.
• Ensure that the organization has adequate insurance coverage, and manage any claims processes, including liability, facilities, directors and officers, and workers’ compensation.
• Develop all fiscal and narrative reports as required by funding agencies and the Two Feathers Board of Directors.
Staff Management
• Support the hiring of new personnel, including onboarding procedures, coordination of interview panels, training and leadership development for optimal employee retention and performance.
• Support the ED in the development and supervision of a dynamic leadership team.
• Proactively contribute to an inclusive, performance-based organizational culture that is collaborative, transparent, and respectful of all backgrounds and identities.
• Participate in relevant program-related community meetings.
• Give guidance in revising the organizational staff structure and job descriptions to maximize capacity and impact as needed.
Operations/Administration
• Manage the repair and maintenance of all owned and leased facilities to ensure the comfort and heightened safety of clients, employees, and visitors.
• Ensure the organization has a modern technology infrastructure that ensures efficiency and effectiveness, along with appropriate training and support.
• Manage personnel operations, including: human resources, administration, risk management, compliance, and performance accountability.
• Other duties as assigned.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The Director of Operations will have at least seven to 10 years of overall professional experience; ideally six-plus
years of broad financial and operations management experience, and a demonstrated track record in
administration, human resources, technology, grants, and program management. While not a requirement, ideally
the DOO will have experience in tribal relations. They will bring a relational management style and demonstrate a
commitment to mentor, support, and partner with staff and volunteers of diverse backgrounds and professional
experiences.
Successful candidates will have a deep connection to Two Feather’s work and purpose, and an appreciation of the
unique needs and contributions of the local tribal communities we serve. Regardless of professional background, the DOO will have a strong track record of working collaboratively and with a practice of individual accountability toward shared goals and results.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Financial oversight and budget management experience in an organization with similar funding sources, and similar organizational staff size.
• Experience hiring, training, and supervising personnel, effectively delegating assignments to others, and inspiring / supporting others to build their skills and talents.
• Experience building and managing budgets while driving sound financial and policy decision making.
• Strong skills in writing, grants and project management, development and maintenance of organizational systems, and technology, including QuickBooks, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and video conferencing software such as Zoom.
• Ability to lead multiple long- and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines by planning, delegating, and managing work.
• Ability to lead effectively across differences in culture, racial and ethnic background, socioeconomic status, and identity.
Education:
• Must have a bachelor’s degree and preferably a masters or higher degree in nonprofit or business administration or relevant field of interest.

• Valid driver’s license
• Fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice, FBI and Child Abuse Index

• Ability to translate financial concepts to—and to effectively collaborate with—programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.
• Experience working collaboratively and transparently with a board of directors or similar volunteer leadership group.
• Experience with data-driven management systems.
• Technologically savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and reporting software.

Salary and Benefits:
• This is a full-time exempt position. Salary will be dependent on experience and will range from $65,000- $85,000 annually.
• Health Insurance: Employees eligible after 6 months of employment, Two Feathers pays 80% of the cost of the employee’s Anthem Silver PPO plan health coverage.
• Retirement Plan: Employees are eligible for a Simple IRA after first year of employment. Two Feathers will match dollar for dollar the employee’s elective deferral contribution for a maximum of 3% of the employee’s total yearly compensation.
• Full-time employees accrue 96 hours of sick time and 1 week of vacation within the first year of employment, to increase to 2 weeks of vacation earned per year after the first year.
• Two Feathers is a HRSA site and licensed employees are eligible for the HRSA student loan repayment program.
