Burglary suspect arrested

According to a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release, dated July 12, 2011:
On July 11, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of Wolf Road and Lost Avenue, McKinleyville regarding a White Dodge Durango that may have been involved in a burglary at a residence in the 1700 block of Lost Avenue, McKinleyville, that same day.  When deputies arrived neighbors told them the vehicle had left the scene. However prior to leaving the scene the vehicle had discarded a small bag in a driveway, which the officers recovered. Inside the bag was jewelry.  About the same time the deputies recovered the jewelry bag and met with neighbors, they were notified the California Highway Patrol (C.H.P.) had the possible vehicle stopped at a gas station on Giuntoli Lane, Arcata.  Deputies responded to the scene and met with the C.H.P. Officer. Officers searched the White Durango and discovered two flat screen televisions, jewelry, a wallet, stereo equipment, a lap top computer and other stolen property. Officers also found bolt cutters and a crow bar, and concentrated cannabis.

The deputies were able to trace the stolen property to three residential burglaries that had occurred on 07-11-2011. One on Lost Avenue, McKinleyville, one in the 6300 block of Fickle Hill Road, Arcata, and another on Maple Creek Road, Maple Creek. Deputies also discovered stolen property from a vehicle burglary that occurred at Mad River Beach Parking Lot, Arcata on July 11, 2011.

Deputies arrested Sean Edward Simpson, 24 years old, of Weitchpec, California. He was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on four counts of burglary; four counts of possession of stolen property; one count of possession of burglary tools, and one count of possession of concentrated cannabis. His bail is set at $200,000.00.
