Community Safety and Awareness Report for Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

•The Humboldt County Health and Human Services Mobile Outreach Program will be back in Redway this week to assist with MediCal, CMSP, and CalFresh applications.  They can also take referrals for county mental health services including assessments, counseling, and ongoing case management.  This month, they will be joined by the Veterans Services Office.  Veterans needing assistance in obtaining documents and service records, or wanting counseling about possible eligibility for veterans benefits, service connected compensation, disability pensions, and enrollment in VA Health Care are encouraged to drop by.  That’s this Thursday, January 12th from to 10am to 2pm at the Redway First Baptist Church on Redway Drive.

•This Saturday, January 14th, the Redwood Coast Tsunami Working Group in conjunction with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services, PG&E, and the residences in and around the community of King Salmon will be participating in a community wide Tsunami Evacuation Drill. At approximately 9am on Saturday, the Tsunami sirens located at the PG&E Power Plant will be switched on. Residents and visitors of King Salmon will be directed to a designated evacuation spot. •The KMUD Business Office will be closed next Monday, January 16th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  The Business Office will re-open on Tuesday, January 17th at 9am.
