Community Safety and Awareness Report for Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

•The KMUD on-air Pledge Drive is in full swing.  Today would be a great time to put your money where the ‘MUD is.  Call 923-3911, visit kmud.org, or drop your pledge off at our studios in Redway.  Thank YOU for putting the PEOPLE in People Powered Radio!

•Tune in tonight at 7pm to hear more about the role and process for public participation in Humboldt County and the General Plan Update.  The Civil Liberties Hour with Bonnie Blackberry and Charlie Custer, with guests Dan Taranto and Tom Grover, will focus on the GPU Governance Policy.  They will discuss what’s been happening and what needs to be included to assure that all citizens throughout the unincorporated areas of the County are afforded a fair and equal opportunity to be involved in all planning decisions.  This will be a call in program.  Listener participation is encouraged.  For more information contact the Civil Liberties Monitoring Project at 923-4646 or email: [email protected].

•And, this week on Women’s Radio Collectively: Ralph Waldo Emerson is quoted as stating, “The first wealth is health.”  What are some of the hidden health hazards that could set you sliding down that slippery slope into chronic illness?  Join Nancy Peregrine this Thursday at 7pm for the first in a series of discussions on some common hidden health hazards that each of us can investigate in ourselves.

This concludes the Community Safety and Awareness Report, which can be read online at kmud.org and heard weekdays at 11am, 3 pm, and as needed here, on KMUD.
