Community Safety and Awareness Report for Thursday, March 1st, 2012

•This week you might tune to 88.3 to find nothing there. Time to try a click to the left!  The installation of the new transmitter for KMUE has begun. Progress and weather permitting, a tower crew will mount our new antenna this week. Once that work is completed KMUE, 88.3, will be switched off and come back much better and stronger on 88.1 FM. Just a click to the left, and you’ll find your favorite station on 88.1.  More information is available at kmud.org.

•Candidates for our 2nd Congressional District will debate the issues today, March 1st, at the Fortuna High School Gym. The debate will run from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Fortuna High School is located at 379 12th Street, Fortuna.

•Caltrans has announced scheduled work to install a new sign above southbound Route 101 at Route 299 on Sunday, March 4th. Southbound Route 101 will be restricted to one lane from Giuntoli Lane to Route 299 beginning at 6am and will reopen at approximately noon. The eastbound Route 299 onramp from southbound Route 101 will be closed at 6am and will reopen at approximately 3pm.  Motorists will be advised of alternate routes.  For the most current road information on all State highways, please call 1-800-GAS-ROAD.
