Community Safety and Awareness Report for Thursday, April 14th, 2011

•The 2nd Annual Small Science Fair will be held at the Octagon in Briceland this today from 1 to 2:30pm

•The southbound Route 101 Tompkins Hill off ramp, south of Eureka, will be closed on Thursday, April 14th, and Friday, April 15th, from 9am to 3pm.  Crews will be upgrading and replacing metal beam guard rail.  For updated information call 1-800-GAS-ROAD.

•April is National Safe Digging Month, and Pacific Gas and Electric Company reminds customers to call 811 before starting any excavation project, large or small.  Whether planting a tree, installing a sprinkler system or building a fence, homeowners and professional excavators need to know where gas and electric lines lie underground to prevent injuries, property damage and outages.

•Check out Al Jazeera English at 8:30am, Tuesday through Friday, right after our local news. Find our morning addition of the Local Weather Report and All Sides Now around 7:55am, right before the KMUD Local Newscast at 8am.

•Tune in tonight at 7pm for The Animal Advocate.  That’s tonight from 7 to 8pm, right here, on KMUD.

This concludes the Community Safety and Awareness Report, which can be read online at kmud.org and heard weekdays at 11am, 3 pm, and as needed here, on KMUD.
