Community Safety and Awareness Report for Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

•Tonight, at 7pm, a Special Meeting will be held at the Healy Senior Center for Redway residents to continue the discussion on the proposed water rate change with Redway Community Services District Board members and staff.  The RCSD Board has postponed their decision to adopt the rate change in order to recieve more input from members of the Redway Community.  Again, that’s tonight at 7pm.  For more information, call 923-3101.

•The Redway Community Services District is having trouble meeting its demand. Crews are staged to begin work on the infiltration gallery July 1st, regulators permitting. They are asking Redway water users to please start conserving now. The community’s efforts last season were excellent and saved the day.

CALFIRE Defensible Space Fire Safety Inspectors plan to work on Miller Creek Road and Kings Peak Road today.  The inspectors will be in uniform and driving a marked CAL FIRE pickup. Anyone wishing to have an inspection of their property, please contact the Garberville CAL FIRE Station at 923-2645 and visit the CAL FIRE web site at: fire.ca.gov for more information.

•A Humboldt County Planning Commission Meeting will be held at the Board of Supervisors’ Chamber at the County Courthouse in Eureka this Thursday, June 30th, at 6pm.

KMUD’s Block Party is coming up this Saturday, July 2nd, and we need YOU to help with the fun.  If you can help, please call Cindy at 923-2513 extension 124.

•Tune in tonight at 7pm for The Mateel Speil.  That’s tonight, from 7 to 8pm, right here, on KMUD.

This concludes the Community Safety and Awareness Report, which can be read online at kmud.org and heard weekdays at 11am, 3 pm, and as needed here, on KMUD.
