Community Safety and Awareness Report for Thursday, June 30th, 2011

•The Redway Community Services District is having trouble meeting its demand. Crews are staged to begin work on the infiltration gallery July 1st, regulators permitting. They are asking Redway water users to please start conserving now.

CALFIRE Defensible Space Fire Safety Inspectors plan to work on Perry Meadow and Elk Ridge Roads today.  The inspectors will be in uniform and driving a marked CAL FIRE pickup. Anyone wishing to have an inspection of their property, please contact the Garberville CAL FIRE Station at 923-2645 and visit the CAL FIRE web site at: fire.ca.gov for more information.

•The Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services Environmental Health Division is notifying recreational users of Mad River, Clam, Luffenholtz, and Trinidad Beaches to avoid contact with ocean water near the river or creeks due to high bacterial levels in the water. For further information, contact the Environmental Health Division at 445-6215.

•A Humboldt County Planning Commission Meeting will be held at the Board of Supervisors’ Chamber at the County Courthouse in Eureka tonight, at 6pm.

•KMUD’s Block Party is coming up this Saturday, July 2nd, and we need YOU to help with the fun.  If you can help, please call Cindy at 923-2513 extension 124.

•The KMUD Business Office will be closed on Monday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day.  The office will re-open Tuesday, July 5th at 9am.

•Tune in tonight at 7pm to hear the latest details on the Marine Life Protection Act process.  Join stakeholders and community members in a discussion about the North Coast Unified Proposal and an update from the meeting that took place Wednesday.  That’s tonight, at 7pm, right here on the ‘MUD.
