Community Safety and Awareness Report for Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

•The Redway Community Services District is having trouble meeting its demand. Crews are staged to begin work on the infiltration gallery July 1st, regulators permitting. They are asking Redway water users to please start conserving now.

•The Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services Environmental Health Division is notifying recreational users of Mad River, Clam, Luffenholtz, and Trinidad Beaches to avoid contact with ocean water near the river or creeks due to high bacterial levels in the water. For further information, contact the Environmental Health Division at 445-6215.

•If you want to know more about what’s happening with the Redistricting of Humboldt County and how it could affect you, then tune in to KMUD Redwood Community Radio, tonight, from 7 to 8pm.  That’s the Civil Liberties Hour with Bonnie Blackberry and guests Robie Tenorio and Erik Kirk.

•And, tune in this Thursday from 7 to 8pm and join the conversation about Peace Activism on Women’s Radio Collectively. Co-Host’s BR Graham and Kerry Reynolds will share audio from inspirational peace activist S. Brian Willson, who will be in Garberville to promote his book Blood on the Tracks.  They will also talk with Activist Sailor Joan Merriman about her exciting work with the Veterans for Peace to restore the historic direct action sailboat The Golden Rule. That’s this Thursday, 7 to 8 pm, right here on KMUD.

This concludes the Community Safety and Awareness Report, which can be read online at kmud.org and heard weekdays at 11am, 3 pm, and as needed here, on KMUD.
