Arcata Recreation – 2022 summer camp season – Enrollment now Open

Open enrollment for the 2022 summer camp season will begin Wednesday, April 6 at 9 a.m.
A variety of camps are offered, with nine weeks, for youth ranging from 5-12 years of age, in addition to a Camp Leader in Training Program for teens age 13-17. A complete list of camps is below. Half Day Skate Camp – (Ages 5-12) Skate Camp runs daily, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 20 through August 19, with Girls Shred the week of August 8 through August 12. Extended care offered at no extra cost.
Campers can be dropped off at 8 a.m. Beginners, intermediate and advanced skateboarders are all welcome and
encouraged to join the fun. Camp will be instructed by local, skilled skateboarders. This camp will focus on skate park safety, etiquette, street riding, vert riding and style. Camp is held at the Arcata Skate Park, located at 900 Sunset Avenue.
Weekly fee is $120 for Arcata residents and $132 for non-residents. Full pads are required. Participants may show proof of skate camp enrollment to receive a 10% discount on required gear from AMPT Skate Shop, located at 1040 H Street in Arcata. For assistance call AMPT at (707) 822-9500.

Half Day Marsh Explorers Science Camp – (Ages 5-8) Marsh Explorers Science Camp runs daily, Monday through Friday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., June 20 through August 19. Extended care offered at no extra cost. Campers can be picked up at 5:30 p.m. Campers will investigate nature through experiments, outdoor adventures, individual projects and engaging, hands-on learning. Each week has a designated theme of exploration including birds, water, wetland mammals and more. Camp is held at the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center, located at 569 South G Street. Weekly fee is $120 for Arcata residents and $132 for non-residents.

Half Day Art Camp – (Ages 5-8 and 9-12) Art camp runs daily, Monday through Friday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., June 20 through August 19. Extended care offered at no extra cost. Campers can be picked up at 5:30 p.m. Aspiring artists focus on age-appropriate art projects and inspiring activities. Artists create new projects every day while exploring a variety of art mediums. Camp is held at the Arcata Community Center Teen Room, located at 321 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. Weekly fee is $120 for Arcata residents and $132 for non-residents. Weekly camp dates will be staggered by age group.

Half Day and Full Day Redwood Day Camp – (Ages 5-12) Redwood Day Camp offers two options: Morning-Only (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) or Full-Day (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), both of which run daily, Monday through Friday, June 20 through August 19. Extended care offered at no extra cost. Morning-Only campers can be dropped off at 8 a.m. Full-Day campers can be dropped off at 8 a.m. and picked up at 5:30 p.m. This camp teaches real life skills in socialization, leadership, and teamwork while exploring the world of nature, art, and cooperative games in the beautiful setting of Redwood Park. Each week’s unique theme adds new and exciting activities for a whole summer of fun! Camp is held at the Redwood Lodge in Redwood Park, located at 490 East Park Road. Weekly fee for Morning-Only is $120 for Arcata residents and $132 for non-residents. Weekly fee for Full Day is $170 for Arcata residents and $182 for non-residents.

Full Day Forest Camp – (Ages 5-8) Forest Camp runs daily, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 20 through August 19. Extended care offered at no extra cost. Campers can be dropped off at 8 a.m. and picked up at 5:30 p.m. Campers gain life-long skills while challenging their individual limits. Campers will explore the Arcata Community Forest and discover the unique landscape and habitat for all life forms that live and grow within its expanse. Camp is held at the Redwood Lounge in Redwood Park, located at 490 East Park Road. Weekly fee is $170 for Arcata residents and $182 for non-residents.

Full Day Adventure Camp – (Ages 9-12) Adventure Camp runs daily, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 20 through August 19. Extended care offered at no extra cost. Campers can be dropped off at 8 a.m. and picked up at 5:30 p.m. Campers gain life-long skills while challenging their individual limits. Each week brings new activities and adventures. Camp is held at the Picnic Area in Redwood Park, located at 490 East Park Road. Weekly fee is $170 for Arcata residents and $182 for non-residents.

Summer Camp Leader in Training Program – (Ages 13-17) Camp Leaders in Training runs daily, Monday Through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 20 through August 19. Half day and full day options are available. Leaders in Training work with youth ages 5 to 12, helping plan and lead summer camp activities. Participants will have the opportunity to gain real life work experience and leadership skills all while having fun in the sun. The Leader in Training Program experience can also count toward community service requirements and looks great on a college application. Participants must be 13 years old by Monday, June 20, or former Arcata Recreation campers who will turn 13 in Fall 2022 may be eligible to work at camps serving our younger age groups. Weekly participation fee is $20 for Arcata residents and $22 for non- residents. Fee for five or more weeks is $100 for Arcata residents or $110 for non-residents.
