Papaya Lounge 5 ast the Carlo Theatre

 AT THE CARLO THEATRE JAN. 25, 26, 27 2024

ARCATA, CA – Cue the choirs of angels and blast thy horns long and hard into the heavens…For unto us a show is born. Papaya Productions presents “Papaya Lounge: Et Cum Spiritu” on January 25, 26, 27 at the Carlo Theatre in Blue Lake at 8:00 p.m. For ages 18 .

If you haven’t seen one of the Papaya Lounge’s audacious annual cabaret-style shows, now is your chance. But get your tickets quick because the Papaya Lounge has sold-out for the last four seasons. Papaya Productions also recommends that if you purchase a ticket, you  get yourself some kind of adult diaper situation or do a ton of kegels before you come because we’ll be damned to heck if you don’t piss yourself with shock and/or laughter. But judge not lest ye be judged because the audience will be in it together AND all eyes will be on the stage where blasphemous shenanigans will be most definitely ensuing.

In this naughty night of nights the holy spirits of divinity, indulgence, and debauchery unite as the Papaya Lounge’s cast of characters get into a weird, yet tasty, pickle of a situation and must munch their way out before your very eyes. Come join your blessedly sinful host, Velvet Q. Jones, played by Sarah McKinney, her non-sexual life partner Nancy Schwartz, played by Kaitlen Osburn, and her personal bartender, psychologist, and witch-wizard, Musty Beaver, played by Janessa Johnsrude, as they present this pickle unto thee and razzle dazzle you with their terrible and simultaneously endearing personalities. All this against a backdrop of sparkling songs and top-hole guest acts featuring Jesse March, Komboujia, Gini Noggle, Will English, and Jesus Christ himself (played by Nancy Schwartz who is played by Kaitlen Osburn).

The Papaya Lounge experience wouldn’t be complete without the musical stylings of the Papaya house band, the Enthusiastic Consents, featuring some of Humboldt’s finest musicians: Cory Goldman on guitar, Michael (Tofu) Schwartz on drums, Marla Joy on horn(s), Nate Zwerdling on bass, and Tim Randles on keys.

The Saturday night January 27th performance will be followed by an after dance-party at the world famous Logger Bar across the street with beats by the delicious DJ Dry Hump. Let the cocktailing continue as the audience processes all the strange things that just happened to them at the show…at the after-party. You must be 21 to attend this get-down after the show.

“Papaya Lounge: Et Cum Spiritu” was partially developed in residence at Dell’Arte International. Dell’Arte is also among the Papaya Lounge’s generous sponsors which include Septentrio Winery and Dead Reckoning Tavern.

“Papaya Lounge: Et Cum Spiritu” plays at The Carlo Theatre at Dell’Arte International, 131 H. Street in Blue Lake on Thursday, January 25, Friday, January 26, and Saturday, January 27 at 8:00 p.m. with doors opening at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $35 for regular seating and $160 for a four-top table up front in the “Splash Zone”.
