Premiere of The Unstrung Harp

Humboldt theatre fans can come enjoy the premiere of The Unstrung Harp, an original physical theatre
comedy coming to Synapsis Friday August 5th and running through Sunday, August 14th. Created by
Dell’Arte MFA graduates Kathryn Cesarz and Jesse March, The Unstrung Harp follows author C.E.
Earbrass in his home as he writes his next novel. Combined physical theatre, physical comedy, shadow
puppetry, and stage magic make this dreamy portrait of a creative in solitude come to life.

Audiences may be familiar with Jesse March and Kathryn Cesarz’s recent work in the Humboldt County
area in The Three Musketeers at Ferndale Repertory Theatre (Jesse), The Complete Works of William
Shakespeare (Abridged) [Revised] at North Coast Repertory Theatre (Kathryn), Around the World in 80
Days, called “simply the best holiday show from Dell’Arte in years”, and Jesse and Kathryn’s frequent
performances as their comic characters The Devil Herself and her emotional support demon, Belpho.
Kathryn brings her visual imagination to this new adaptation of a classic illustrated story, and
lightning-in-a-bottle physical comedian Jesse March will bring the duo’s knack for engaging storytelling
to life. The production adapts an illustrated story by Edward Gorey, originally published in 1953. Gorey is
known for his macabre pen-and-ink drawings in victorian and edwardian settings. Longtime Dell’Arte
lighting designer Michael “Spike” Foster will design lights for the production, and former Dell’Arte
faculty James Peck narrates the show.

The Unstrung Harp is appropriate for all ages, and will be best enjoyed by audiences ages 7 and up.
Friday and Saturday nights, August 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th shows are at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday matinees
August 7th and 14th begin at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be found at theunstrungharp.com.
