Wildwood Days Parade in Rio Dell
Join the Wildwood Days parade in Rio Dell August 6
Wildwood Days, the annual community celebration in Rio Dell, is in its 51st year and will again feature a parade starting at noon on Saturday, August 5. The public is invited to participate. There will be prizes for best vehicle, best all-around, and best use of theme. The theme this year is a salute to first responders of all types – doctors and nurses, emergency medical technicians, police and fire fighters.
Prize sponsors include Redwood Capital Bank and Tri Counties Bank in Fortuna and Element 7 dispensary in Rio Dell. Second district supervisor Michelle Bushnell will be the emcee. The event is put on by the Rio Dell-Scotia Chamber of Commerce.
Those wishing to enter should fill out an application which can be downloaded from the chamber’s website, riodellscotiachamber.org, for which there is a link from the home page, or picked up from organizers at the event. This provides information to be announced by the emcee about the entry, and indicates which prize category, if any, one wants to be considered for.
Entrants should stage by 10:30 a.m. on Center Street across from the school, which is near the north end of town and on the east side of Wildwood, the main street, which is the parade route. This provides time for judging and the awarding of prizes. The Kiwanis Club of Rio Dell and Scotia is having a pancake breakfast at the school until 11 a.m.
