GPU issues Planning Commission Meeting and workshops announced

A Planning Commission Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 6:00 pm at Board of Supervisors’ Chamber, Humboldt County Courthouse, 825 5th Street, in Eureka. Before the meeting a series of public workshops will take place (see below for the workshop schedules)

 

The public workshops and Planning Commission  Hearing will consider the general plan, local coastal plan, zoning and subdivision ordinance amendments implementing the 2010 Housing Element Update. Implementation of the Housing Element is necessary to comply with State law regarding Housing Elements, and to meet documented housing needs.  There are eight categories of implementation measures under consideration. These implementation measures will affect the kinds, locations and intensities of land uses and new development within the unincorporated areas of Humboldt County, including the Coastal Zone. The project includes an addendum to the certified Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) prepared for the Housing Element.  

 

Any person may appear and present testimony in regard to these matters at these meetings.  The  Planning Commission  needs 14 COPIES of any materials submitted either prior to or at the meeting.  The  Planning Commission’s recommendations on the project will be taken to a public hearing by the Board of Supervisors for a decision.  If you challenge the nature of the proposed action in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the Planning Commission Hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the  Planning Commission , at, or prior to, the public hearing.  The staff report for this project will be available on the Planning Commission web site at:  http://www.co.humboldt.ca.us/planning, on the Friday before the Planning Commission Meeting.
