Update: According to an article posted in the Times Standard March 17, 2011:
An autopsy indicated that Jeremiah Holland Jones, 22 of Eureka, missing since early February, likely drowned in Arcata’s Janes Creek. Jones was reported missing by concerned family members after he had not been seen since Feb. 11 (see the original missing person post below). Humboldt County Deputy Coroner Roy Horton said Jones’ body was found floating face-down in Janes Creek near the United Methodist Church on 11th Street at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, after a neighbor to the church called
authorities. Horton said it appears Jones may have been in the creek since he went missing last month. No identification was found on Jones and he was ultimately identified by tattoos and a piece of metal in his leg from a medical procedure.
Toxicology tests are pending, Horton said, but preliminary results of the autopsy indicate Jones drowned. He said no signs of trauma were found on Jones’ body and homicide is not suspected in the case.
