Local company brings "super wi-fi" to Yuroks:
The Yurok Tribe of Northern California signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Carlson Wireless, making them the first native tribe in the nation to utilize available TV white space to bring broadband capabilities to their currently underserviced remote areas.

Bass appoints Disiere to Planning Commission:
Humboldt County Supervisor Virginia Bass Jackson announced at the board of supervisors meeting today that she appointed Linda Disiere to the county planning commission.  Disiere is currently the director of equity management for North Coast Investors Group.  She also has served as president of the Humboldt Association of Realtors.

First round to "Imagine Humboldt" concludes:
A future visioning process called Imagine Humboldt wrapped up the first round of its public input process at a meeting in Eureka Monday.  Daniel Mintz reports.

Local vets restore famous anti-nuke ship:
The Garberville Veterans for Peace is working to restore a 60-year old ship called the Golden Rule. This vintage ship became famous when its crew was arrested for protesting nuclear testing in the 1950s.

Verizon trying to fix Alderpoint phone lines:
Verizon customers are experiencing a major "buzz" in the line and difficulty making or receiving telephone calls.  A representative with Verizon says they plan to replace the entire system, but it’s unlikely that will happen before the end of the year, although Verizon crews are working to provide a short-term solution.  In the meantime, you may find it difficult to reach anyone by phone in the Alderpoint area.
