Mendocino Police arrest a woman for attempted murder with a hatchet:
Fort Bragg Police have made an arrest connected to an attempted murder that occurred last Friday afternoon. Police identified the victim as Alissa Colberg. The alleged assailant, Maricruz Alvarez, was arrested yesterday afternoon without incident and was charged with attempted murder and mayhem. Alvarez is in the Mendocino county jail with bail set at a half million dollars. Fort Bragg Police are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information to call them at: 707-961-2800.
FDA recalls local Salad Dressing:
On January 31, the Food and Drug administration recalled Tomaso’s, 12 oz. Caesar Dressing because of undeclared eggs in the product, specifically eggs in the mayonnaise. Tomaso’s Specialty Foods and Distributing is based in Blue Lake, CA. The FDA warns people who have allergies to eggs, if you consume the Caesar Dressing you run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction. The MLPA process enters the final phase:
The state commission that will implement the Marine Life Protection Act on the North Coast has asked for the revision of a local marine protected area proposal. Daniel Mintz reports. In related news, Assembly Member Wesley Chesbro today announced the date of the Committee’s 38th Annual Fisheries Forum: Wednesday, Feb. 16, beginning at 10 a.m., in Room 4202 in the State Capitol in Sacramento.

Federal Government working to reduce Medicare fraud:
Fraud costs government and private insurers billions of dollars a year, and helps push up health care costs for all of us. The Health Care Fraud Prevention and Enforcement Action Team, or "HEAT", and Medicare Fraud Strike Force Prosecution Teams are working to reduce fraud using new tools in the Affordable Care Act, and they want Medicare recipients to learn about the new tools. Medicare users can report suspected instances of fraud and identity theft, by calling: 1-800-MEDICARE, or call Health and Human Services Department’s Hotline at: 1-800-HHS-TIPS.
