Man arrested in Eureka on multiple charges

According to a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, dated Nov. 29, 2011:
On Nov. 29, 2011, approximately 3:00 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible prowler in the area of Starland Court, Eureka. The caller stated her dog was barking and alerted her to someone possibly being in her back yard. As deputies responded to the area to check, a deputy noticed a male subject in a vehicle with the engine running near the residence where the call came from. The deputy contacted the driver of the vehicle who seemed very nervous as the deputy spoke with him. The driver told the deputy he was waiting for a friend; however he could provide no further information further arousing the officer’s suspicions. The deputy obtained identification from the driver who was identified as Michael John Cady, 21 years old, from McKinleyville and learned Cady was on active parole for burglary. During the contact the deputy saw a large zip lock bag of marijuana on the front passenger seat of the vehicle. The deputy detained the Cady and searched his vehicle. The deputy found a loaded Tec-9 Assault Style rifle with a loaded 30 round magazine, and a loaded sawed off shotgun and a black ski cap.

Cady was arrested for carrying a loaded firearm with a prior felony conviction, illegal possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle,  possession of prohibited firearms and possession of over an ounce of marijuana and violation of parole. He was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he is being held without bail.
