Man’s death in Westport still under investigation

According to information released by the  Mendocino County Sheriffs Office:
On August 11, 2011 at approximately 10:35 pm Mendocino County Sheriffs Deputies along with Coastal Medical Personnel were dispatched to the 44000 Block of North Highway 1 Westport, California in response to a possible bear attack, which caused the death of a male adult, age 44.

On arrival, medical personnel along with deputies examined the victim (who was located adjacent his vehicle) and found that the decedent’s injuries were not consistant with a bear attack. Mendocino County Sheriffs Detectives were summoned to the location and are conducting further investigation into the victim’s death at the time of this press release.
 
The Mendocino Sheriffs Office confirmed to KMUD News that they are investigating this as a suspicious death and a forensic necropsy will be conducted on August 15, 2011.  The decedent’s name is expected to be officially released on August 15, 2011.
