Press Release from the Southern Humboldt Little League

Southern Humboldt Little League is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the 2011 Tournament of Champions for California District 26 from Saturday, June 11th through Tuesday, June 14th.

Teams from all over Del Norte and Humboldt counties will be playing at Wood Field in Redway to compete for the championship title.

District 26 has nine chartered Little Leagues: Arcata, Blue Lake-Field Brook, Eureka, Eel River, Redwood Empire, Mckinleyville, Southern Humboldt, Del Norte and Klamath-Trinity. Each league sends their top two regular season teams to play in a sixteen bracket, single elimination tournament. To make the sixteen team bracket work, Del Norte and Blue Lake will be sending only their number one teams.

Games will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and be played until dark. Eight games on Saturday whittle down to four games on Sunday starting at 10:00 a.m., then two on Monday both being played at 6:00 p.m. and finally one last game for the title on Tuesday night starting at 6:00.

Southern Humboldt Little League is being represented by two fabulous major league teams; the Lotus Mountain Giants and the Select Builders Dodgers. The Dodgers will play at 9:30 on Saturday. The Giants will have their first game at noon on Saturday.

Everyone is encouraged to attend this all ages event. The snack shack will be serving all of the standard baseball fare and special booths will be set up for cotton candy, popcorn and sno cones.
