Weather & Tides-July 3, 2025

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE REPORT

Thursday, July 3rd, 2025

SYNOPSIS:  Cooler interior temperatures and a deeper marine layer are expected Thursday and Friday. Fire weather concerns today from gusty afternoon winds and a slight chance for thunderstorms. Temperatures will then trend warmer through the weekend and into early next week.

TODAY:

Inland: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. North wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Along the Coast: Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT:

Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 48. North wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light after midnight.

Along the Coast: Patchy drizzle after 8pm. Patchy fog between 11pm and 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Extended Forecast:   A deepening marine layer is pushing cool, moist ocean air further inland, which will bring lower temperatures and possible drizzle along the coast, especially near Humboldt Bay. On Thursday afternoon and evening, a small but energetic weather disturbance could trigger thunderstorms, particularly over eastern Trinity County, though how widespread they’ll be is uncertain. This system will further cool coastal areas heading into the weekend, keeping temperatures mild. Looking ahead, a ridge of high pressure from the Desert Southwest may bring a warming trend late next week, but its impact depends on how a nearby upper-level low behaves.
