SYNOPSIS: General gusty winds, showers and isolated thunderstorms
with potential small hail are expected to continue through this
evening along with moderate to heavy downpours. Heavy mountain
snow above 3000 feet elevation is anticipated through this evening,
as well. Lingering showers through Wednesday, followed by dry
weather for the remainder of the week are forecast.
TODAY:
Inland: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 5pm, then isolated showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. High near 53. West northwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Along the Coast: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 5pm, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. High near 52. West northwest wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Isolated showers before 8pm. Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. North northwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Along the Coast: Scattered showers before 11pm, then a slight chance of rain after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. North northwest wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Extended Forecast: The region will continue to experience showers with isolated thunderstorms capable of producing small hail, especially along the coast. Gusty winds from the southwest to west, with gusts up to 40 mph in Lake County, will persist into the evening, along with moderate to heavy downpours that will gradually diminish. Heavy mountain snow above 3,000 feet is expected in Trinity and Humboldt counties through the evening, with additional accumulations possible in higher elevations. Lingering showers will persist through early Wednesday before dry conditions settle in for the rest of the week.
