SYNOPSIS: Hot and drier weather conditions continue. Inland high temperatures drop a few degrees today before beginning a lasting cooling trend on Wednesday into the weekend. Coastal stratus is likely to remain persistent and keep coastal temperatures moderated.

TODAY: 

Inland: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. Calm wind becoming south southwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. 

Along the Coast: Mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon. 

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 56. Calm wind.

Along the Coast: Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 54. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. 

Extended Forecast: Hot weather will continue this week in inland areas, especially in the Trinity and Klamath River valleys, with highs between 95–105°F, while the coast stays cooler thanks to clouds and fog. A shift in the weather pattern midweek could bring a few light showers to parts of Mendocino and Lake Counties, though thunderstorms aren’t expected. Temperatures will gradually cool toward the weekend, with breezy afternoons and gusty winds possible in some areas. There’s a slight chance of light rain and isolated thunderstorms over the weekend, especially in the north, but details are still uncertain.

The next low tide will be at 8:27 pm,  at 1.4ft.   Today we begin the day with the waning gibbous moon already visible in the sky, so first we will see the moonset, which will take place at 10:12 am in the west. Eventually, the moon will rise again in the east at 10:06 pm. According to the solunar theory, today is a bad day for fishing, the fish activity forecast is low, however, this is just a chance so we encourage you to take your rod and try it during solunar periods.
