SYNOPSIS: Cooler and cloudier conditions start to ease today, with sunny, dry, and slightly warmer weather forecast through Saturday. A quick moving chance of rain is possible again Sunday.
TODAY:
Inland: Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 74. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Along the Coast: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Light north wind becoming north northwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Partly cloudy, with a low around 45. North wind 8 to 13 mph becoming light in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.
Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. North northwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
Extended Forecast: Northwest California will see calm, dry weather through Saturday under a brief stretch of high pressure. Fog has formed in inland valleys tonight, which will help prevent frost, but colder and drier conditions Friday morning may allow frost to develop—especially in valleys like Weaverville, Hyampom, and Hayfork if winds stay calm. Daytime temperatures will gradually warm, reaching the 70s to low 80s inland by the weekend. Early Sunday, a cold front is expected to move through, bringing rain mainly to Del Norte, Humboldt, and Trinity counties, with around a quarter to half an inch for most areas and up to 2–2.5 inches on mountain slopes. Snow may fall above 4,500 to 5,000 feet, but little accumulation is expected.
