SYNOPSIS: Slight warming and drying will continue through Saturday with mostly clear skies. Cooler weather and very light coastal rain is expected Sunday with warmer weather again early next week.

TODAY: 

Inland: Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming north 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon. 

Along the Coast: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. Light and variable wind becoming north northwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 47. North wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening

Along the Coast: Areas of fog after 2am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 49. North northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening. 

Extended Forecast: High pressure is bringing calm, dry, and slightly warmer weather to northwest California through Saturday, with interior valleys reaching around 80 degrees. Overnight dewpoints near 40 degrees continue to prevent widespread frost despite clear skies. A weak weather system on Sunday will likely bring only brief clouds and very light coastal drizzle, mainly in Del Norte County, with minimal rainfall elsewhere. Early next week, mild and dry conditions return, but forecasters are watching for a potentially significant rain event late next week. Current models show a high chance of widespread rain, with some projections suggesting over three inches of rain along the North Coast and possible strong winds if the storm strengthens.
