NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE REPORT

SYNOPSIS: Drying and warming weather today and Tuesday. A series of large swell will bring dangerous breaking waves along the west and northwest facing beaches this week. Confidence continues to increase for a moderate Atmospheric River (AR) impacting Northern California Friday into the weekend, bringing periods of heavy rainfall, high-elevation heavy snow, and strong south winds.

TODAY: 

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 82. North wind 6 to 11 mph. 

Along the Coast: Sunny, with a high near 62. Light north wind becoming north northwest 9 to 14 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 47. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. 

Along the Coast: Mostly clear, with a low around 48. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Extended Forecast: High pressure is settling over Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, bringing clear skies and dry weather. Overnight temperatures are a bit cooler than yesterday, with some pockets of frost around Hayfork and Highway 36. Monday and Tuesday will be sunny and warmer, with inland highs reaching the upper 70s to low 80s and lighter winds near the coast. By midweek, the weather pattern shifts—low clouds and fog will return as cooler marine air spreads inland, keeping temperatures near average. Toward Friday and the weekend, a strong storm system known as an atmospheric river is expected to bring heavy rain, mountain snow, and gusty winds, especially north of Cape Mendocino.

The waning crescent moon rose in the southeast at 6:49 am and will set in the southwest at 5:57 pm. According to the solunar theory, today is an excellent day for fishing, the fish activity forecast is very high.
