SYNOPSIS: Drier and warmer weather today, before a cool-down on Wednesday. A series of large swell will bring dangerous breaking waves along the west and northwest facing beaches this week, as well as sneaker waves risk. Confidences remain high for a moderate Atmospheric River (AR) impacting Northern California Friday into the weekend, bringing periods of heavy rainfall, high- elevation heavy snow, and strong south winds.

TODAY: 

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming south southwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Along the Coast: Sunny, with a high near 69. Light and variable wind.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Partly cloudy, with a low around 45. Light south southwest wind.

Along the Coast: Partly cloudy, with a low around 48. Light and variable wind.

Extended Forecast: High pressure over Northern California is bringing clear skies, dry air, and chilly nights with patchy frost possible in inland valleys. Today will be warmer and dry, with valley highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and coastal highs in the low 70s. By Wednesday, a shift in weather patterns will draw in cooler marine air and some cloud cover, keeping temperatures steady through Thursday. Starting Friday, an atmospheric river is expected to bring significant rain, mountain snow, and gusty winds to Northern California, lasting through the weekend. The heaviest impacts are likely north of Cape Mendocino, where over three inches of rain and localized flooding are possible.
