If you’ve ever wanted to make biochar and didn’t have the equipment or the know-how, the Black Ripple Biochar Kiln Loan and Training Program kicks off Nov. 1 in Benbow and Nov. 15 in Garberville.
The kiln loan program is for people who want to make biochar but can’t afford to buy the equipment. Training is included in the program in order to become eligible for a kiln loan. Any resident or contractor in SoHum can borrow a kiln once they get the free training to operate them.
Kilns will be available for pickup at a location in Garberville. They store flat, so they fit easily in an ordinary station wagon.
To sign up for a training, visit blackripple.com/kilnloanprogram.
