KMUD’s new Community Resources and Calendar page is now live on the KMUD website, kmud.org/, under the COMMUNITY dropdown menu. Our improved calendar provides addresses, phone numbers and up to date information for farmers markets, food distributions, public meals, blood drives and other community services.
Provided you have a valid Air Quality burn permit, Thursday, November 6th, is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Residents in state responsibility areas must also obtain a Cal Fire burn permit. Please refer to your air quality burn permit for approved burn hours and restrictions.
During the ongoing government shutdown, many Humboldt County residents are waiting for delayed CalFresh benefits — leaving thousands uncertain about their next meal. Food for People is here for anyone who needs help. Join them for an emergency drive‑thru food distribution on Thursday, November 13th, at College of the Redwoods from 11 to 1 pm. You’ll find pantry staples, fresh produce, and more — rain or shine. If you can give, your donation helps Food for People meet growing community needs. In Humboldt, Food for People is hosting food distributions in (McKinleyville from 10 until 3pm;) Willow Creek at the Community Resource Center, 38883 CA-299 from 10 until noon; Myers Flat at the Fire Station, 54 Myers Ave., from noon until 3pm and Garberville from 10:30 until noon.
In Mendocino, the Mendocino Food Network is hosting food distributions in Ukiah from 9 until 2pm and the Willits PopUp, 1250 Blosser Ln, from 10 until 11:30am.
The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at Cal Poly Humboldt – B St, 1 Harpst St, Arcata from 11 until 4pm. And as always, the blood bank is open Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net
(No need to read the following lunch announcements at 3pm.) Lunches are provided for seniors at the Willits Senior Center from 11:45 until 1:00pm, and the Redwood Coast Seniors Center in Fort Bragg from 11:30 until 1:15pm. Plowshares Peace and Justice Center in Ukiah provides a hot meal weekdays from 11:30 until noon.
Meals are provided Monday through Friday at Willits Daily Bread from 4:30 to 5:30pm and at the Mendocino Coast Hospitality House in Fort Bragg at 3pm.
