Community Safety & Awareness Report-Nov.10, 2025

KMUD’s new Community Resources and Calendar page is now live on the KMUD website, kmud.org/, under the COMMUNITY dropdown menu. Our improved calendar provides addresses, phone numbers and up to date information for farmers markets, food distributions, public meals, blood drives and other community services.

Provided you have a valid Air Quality burn permit, Monday, November 10th, is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Residents in state responsibility areas must also obtain a Cal Fire burn permit. Please refer to your air quality burn permit for approved burn hours and restrictions.

During the ongoing government shutdown, many Humboldt County residents are waiting for delayed CalFresh benefits — leaving thousands uncertain about their next meal. Food for People is here for anyone who needs help. Join them for an emergency drive‑thru food distribution on Thursday, November 13th, at College of the Redwoods from 11 to 1 pm and The Hoopa Valley Food Distribution building, 12479 CA-96,  in Hoopa. You’ll find pantry staples, fresh produce, and more — rain or shine, while supplies last. If you can give, your donation helps Food for People meet growing community needs. Learn more or donate today at foodforpeople(dot)org. That’s foodforpeople(dot)org.

In Humboldt, Food for People is hosting food distributions in McKinleyville from 10 until 3:45pm (and Fortuna, from 10 until noon.)

In Mendocino, the Mendocino Food Network is hosting food distributions in Fort Bragg from 10 until 3:45pm and the Albion PopUp, 3512 Albion Ridge Rd, from 4 until 5pm.

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at Wildberries in Arcata from noon until 6pm. And as always, the blood bank is open Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net

Plowshares Peace and Justice Center in Ukiah provides a hot meal weekdays from 11:30 until noon. Every Monday, the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Bragg provides bagged lunches from noon until 12:30pm.
