SYNOPSIS: A moderate atmospheric river will continue to impact the area over the next 24 hours with the greatest wind and rain focused in Mendocino and Lake Counties. Conditions will clear for the end of the week with another round of light rain along the North Coast late in the weekend.

TODAY:  

Inland: Wind Advisory now until 2pm 

Scattered showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. High near 65. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. 

Along the Coast: Wind Advisory now until 2pm 

Showers likely, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Breezy, with a south wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. 

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Showers, mainly before 10pm. Low around 48. Southeast wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. 

Along the Coast: Showers likely before 4am, then a chance of rain after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Breezy, with a south southeast wind 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Extended Forecast: A moderate atmospheric river is bringing heavy rain and strong winds to Northwest California early Thursday. Rain will taper off by midday, with 2 to 3 inches expected in Mendocino and Lake Counties and lighter amounts farther north. Winds are strongest along the Mendocino Coast, gusting up to 60 mph near Point Arena, though most areas will see 30–40 mph gusts. Minor flooding and small landslides are possible, mainly in urban and low-lying areas. Conditions will turn cooler and drier Friday, with another weak weather system expected later in the weekend.
