SYNOPSIS: Rain and gusty winds are forecast to continue through
Monday. Breezy winds, scattered showers, and isolated
thunderstorms in Mendocino County are possible through the day
Monday. An extended period of cold overnight lows with widespread
frost and interior freezing temperatures could begin overnight
Monday. Additional rain possible Wednesday or Thursday.
TODAY:
Inland: Rain likely before 1pm, then scattered showers, mainly between 1pm and 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. North wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Along the Coast: Rain before 1pm, then scattered showers, mainly between 1pm and 4pm. High near 55. Breezy, with a north northwest wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Isolated showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 42. North wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Along the Coast: Isolated showers before 10pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 50. North northeast wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Extended Forecast: Moderate to heavy rain fell in Humboldt, Del Norte, and southern Lake counties late Sunday night, causing minor flooding concerns and some flood advisories. This rain is expected to ease early Monday, but total rainfall ranged from 1 to over 2.5 inches in some hilly spots, with a little snow possible at higher elevations. Today, strong north winds will develop, especially along the coast and higher areas, possibly bringing gusts up to 40 mph and a small chance of thunderstorms. After the storm, much colder and drier weather will move in, bringing chilly nights with frost and freezing temperatures possible, and another weather system may arrive later in the week.
