KMUD’s new Community Resources and Calendar page is now live on the KMUD website, kmud.org/, under the COMMUNITY dropdown menu. Our improved calendar provides addresses, phone numbers and up to date information for farmers markets, food distributions, public meals, blood drives and other community services. 

Provided you have a valid Air Quality burn permit, Tuesday, October 21st, is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Residents in state responsibility areas must also obtain a Cal Fire burn permit. Please refer to your air quality burn permit for approved burn hours and restrictions. 

Today, the North Coast Growers Association is hosting the Old Town Farmers’Market from 10 until 1pm  and the Shelter Cove Farmers’Market from 11 until 3pm.

In Humboldt, Food for People is hosting food distributions in McKinleyville from 10 until 3pm; Eureka from 10 until 3:45pm; and Garberville from 10:30 until noon.

The Food for People Mobile Pantry is hosting a food distribution at the Yurok Tribe Weitchpec Office, 23001 CA-96, Hoopa from 11 until 1pm.

Today, and every Tuesday, between noon and 3 pm, you can recharge at the Redway Baptist Church, 1055 Redwood Drive. For those living without a home, Bridging the Gap Ministries will welcome you for a hot meal, electronics recharging, warm clothing, and, as needed, there’s limited outdoor living supplies available. If you have donations of food or warm coats to offer or need additional information call 707-223-1560 

In Mendocino, the Mendocino Food Network is hosting food distributions in (Ukiah from 9 until noon;) Chapel of the Redwoods Baptist, 31201 Comptche Ukiah Rd, in Comptche from 2 until 4pm; (and Mendocino Presbyterian Church, 44831 Main St, in Mendocino from 1:30 until 3pm.)

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s Blood Mobile will be at the Safeway in Crescent City from 1 to 6pm and the DHHS, 929 Koster St. in Eureka from 10 until 4pm. And as always, the Northern California Community Blood Bank is open Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net

Lunches are provided for seniors at the Willits Senior Center from 11:45 until 1:00pm, and the Redwood Coast Seniors Center in Fort Bragg from 11:30 until 1:15pm. Plowshares Peace and Justice Center in Ukiah provides a hot meal weekdays from 11:30 until noon.  Meals are provided Monday through Friday at Willits Daily Bread from 4:30 to 5:30pm and at the Mendocino Coast Hospitality House in Fort Bragg at 3pm.
