SYNOPSIS:

  • Clear, dry weather continues through Tuesday with overnight valley fog and possible morning frost.
  • Light rain returns Wednesday afternoon (New Year’s Eve) in southern areas, spreading north by Thursday with 0.10-0.30 inches expected.
  • Friday brings heavier rainfall of 1+ inches with a potential atmospheric river and possible localized flooding.
  • Very strong winds (65-75+ mph) develop Friday morning over mountains and coast, with another powerful storm following over the weekend.
  • Heavy rain and high wind risk continues along the West Coast from January 5-8.
