SYNOPSIS:
- High clouds are moving north as a weak low-pressure system off Southern California spreads light rain across Northwest California Wednesday night through Thursday night.
- Rainfall totals from this first system will be moderate (0.5–1.5 inches, locally up to 2 inches), with minimal flooding or wind concerns.
- A brief dry window (6–12 hours) is possible Friday morning before the next, stronger storm arrives.
- The second system Friday–Friday night will bring heavy rain (0.5–3 inches) and strong southerly winds, especially across coastal ridges and headlands from Humboldt northward.
- Continued moisture flow through the weekend may keep rain and wind impacts going, with increasing flood potential into early next week if the moisture plume remains stalled over Northern California.
