SYNOPSIS:
- A strong upper level ridge over the West Coast is causing exceptionally warm temperatures inland, well above normal for January
- Cold conditions persist in northern river valleys (Humboldt, Trinity, Mendocino) at night and morning due to radiational cooling and fog
- Strong northeasterly winds are developing, particularly over ridges in Del Norte and Lake counties, with warmer coastal temperatures expected
- The ridge will maintain dry, stable weather through the weekend with minimal chance of coastal fog due to offshore flow
- The dry pattern continues until late next week into the weekend, with meaningful rainfall (over 0.1 inch) not likely until late January
