Wood Fire Update- 8am 10/07/24

The forward progress has been stopped.
The Wood Fire that was reported just before 8 p.m. last night, northwest of Redway off of Wood Ranch Road, is now reported to be 25 acres and 25% contained. At one point last night, the fire, burning in heavy timber, was reported to be 50 acres in size. However, though CAL FIRE fire suppression aircraft were not assigned to the fire due to the late hour and risk of nighttime flying, Just before midnight, a FIRIS was able to map the fire and reduced the estimated size to 25 acres.
The fire is no longer visible on the Alert California cameras indicating that ground crews through the night were able to make good progress containing the fire, which now stands at 25%.
No threats to structures or mandatory evacuations were announced, and remain unlikely, though those in the area should stay tuned to emergency channels in the event that conditions change.
