King Tides and Storm Surge Prompt Coastal Flood Warnings Issued for Humboldt & Mendocino

Flood warnings and advisories are in effect along the North Coast, stretching from Crescent City to Fort Bragg, as King Tides, large waves, strong winds, and heavy rain converge this weekend. The National Weather Service in Eureka warns that southerly winds and storm surge will push King Tides higher than predicted, leading to saltwater flooding in typically dry coastal areas.

Low-lying regions along the immediate coast are at the greatest risk, with the period of concern expected between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday. Coastal flood advisories have been issued from Crescent City to Klamath, while more severe flood warnings are in place from Orick to the mouth of the Eel River and Shelter Cove to Gualala.

In Mendocino County, flood warnings are in effect for the Navarro and Russian River systems, with impacts expected along Highway 128 and Highway 175.

Storm totals are predicted to deliver several inches of precipitation, increasing the risk of flooding in these areas.
