In Humboldt County, the trial of Jackson Parrott, 44, of Scotia, for charges of attempted murder, mayhem, and robbery began Thursday Jan 8th. In November, Jackson Parrott, 44, of Scotia, was arrested. Michael Cady, 34, of McKinleyville, and Christopher Overholt, 42, of Loleta, were also identified as suspects.
John Chiv, writing on his John Chiv blogspot on which he covers Humboldt’s courthouse news and trials, reports defendant Overholt has an immunity agreement with the Humboldt County District Attorney’s office.
And while Cady remains at large, he was questioned at some point during the investigation. Chiv reported that during the trial’s opening arguments, defense attorney Andrea Sullivan explained to the jury that law enforcement interviews with Michael Cady directed their attention toward Christopher Overholt
Sullivan defended her client, Jackson Parrot, in opening remarks stating, “Overholt tells multiple stories and accuses Parrott after he finds out Parrott is sleeping with his wife.” Sullivan also argued that evidence would show Parrott was an hour away at the time of the incident.
