On Monday January 13, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant on Cougar Road in Shelter Cove in an investigation initiated when deputies intercepted a parcel containing several pounds of processed marijuana being shipped out of state a month ago. 60-year-old Fredrick Hoss was identified as the sender. Hoss was on scene during the warrant service and was found with a firearm, 10 grams of methamphetamine, and 15 more pounds of marijuana. Hoss was arrested charges of felon in possession of a firearm, maintaining a drug house, and possession of methamphetamine and marijuana for sale.


The HCSO arrested 2 suspects in connections with the multiple shooting incidents that occurred during the last week of 2024. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has identified and arrested two suspects, Dauwin Poe, 19, of McKinleyville, and Cote Lincoln, 38, of Hoopa. The first shooting occurred in the wee hours of December 28 at Toni’s #1 hamburger restaraunt in Arcata, where Poe and Lincoln became involved in a violent altercation with several individuals. After the fight, the suspects pursued one of the victims from Toni’s #1 to McKinleyville, where Poe shot at the vehicle. Later that evening, around 11 p.m., Poe was involved in another shooting in Hoopa, where a 23-year-old male sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Poe has been identified as the shooter in that incident as well.Poe is also a suspect in a shooting on 3rd Street in Eureka on December 27.According to the HCSO On January 9, Poe was arrested at the Humboldt Courthouse and booked on multiple charges, including attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and conspiracy. Lincoln was arrested two days later.. Both remain in custody as investigations continue.
