Community Safety & Awareness Report – February 5, 2025

The Food For People Mobile Produce Pantry will be in Fortuna today at the Fortuna Community Services at 2331 Rohnerville Road between 10am and 12:30pm.

Food for People will be hosting food distributions around Humboldt County today. The Eureka Choice Pantry located at 307 W 14th Street will be open from 10 am until 3:45 pm today. The McKinleyville Pantry at 1615 Heartwood Drive will be open from 10 am until 3 pm. In Fortuna, the pantry at 2292 Newburg Road will be open from 10 am until noon today. The Arcata Pantry at 501 9th Street is open today from 4 to 6 pm. And in Garberville, the pantry at 437 Maple Lane will be hosting a distribution from 2 to 4 pm. 

Mendocino County residents can receive food assistance today at the Fort Bragg Food Bank from 12 noon to 4pm today at 910 north Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. The Willits Food Bank also offers food distribution today from 1-430 pm at 229 east San Francisco Street in Willits. Call 459-3333 for details. Residents can receive a hot meal at Willits Daily Bread, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 58 Bush St. Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program. 

The Mendocino Food and Nutrition Program will be hosting a drive-thru pop up for fresh, premade food distribution in Willits tomorrow at 1250 Blosser Lane from 10am to 1130 am. Swing by for a delicious premade meal. 

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at Caltrans located at 1656 Union Street in Eureka from 10 am until 3 pm, and at the North Coast Co-Op located at 811 I Street in Arcata from 11 am until 4 pm. And as always, the blood bank is open Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net

CAL FIRE has lifted the requirement for residents in the state responsibility area to obtain a CAL FIRE burn permit, however, an air quality air permit is required yearround to avoid receiving a violation.

Today, Wednesday, February 5th, is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.
