Weather & Tide Report – February 7, 2025

SYNOPSIS: Scattered rain and snow showers will fade away by mid-morning. Any additional accumulation will be very light. After that, much colder and drier air will move in, bringing chilly temperatures through the day and into tonight.

TODAY:

Inland: Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. North northwest wind 3 to 8 mph.

Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 48. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

TONIGHT:

Inland: Areas of fog after 1am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 31. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Along the Coast: A 30 percent chance of showers after 4am. Patchy frost after 10pm. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 35. Light and variable wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight.

Extended Forecast: A much colder air mass will settle in this weekend and continue into early next week. Even the coast will feel the chill, with nighttime temperatures possibly dropping to around 30°F, while inland areas will see lows in the 20s or even teens in places like Trinity County. The cold will be especially dangerous for those without adequate shelter. By mid-next week, a new system is expected to bring some moisture, though most models suggest only light to moderate rain. However, with the cold air already in place, even a small amount of precipitation could lead to low-elevation snow, which could cause travel issues. Forecasters will be monitoring the details closely.
