KMUD’s new Community Resources and Calendar page is now live on the KMUD website, kmud.org, under the COMMUNITY dropdown menu. Our improved calendar provides addresses, phone numbers and up to date information for farmers markets, food distributions, public meals, blood drives and other community services.
Today, Wednesday August 6th, Humboldt, Mendocino, Del Norte and Trinity and Counties have suspended all burns at this time.
Until Mid-August, The Humboldt County Department of Public Works is repairing Bell Springs Road at Post Mile 2.20 & 4.96, north of Island Mountain Road. With an expected completion date in Mid-August. expect delays of up to 30 minutes between 7:30am and 4:30pm during this period.
CalTrans reports the Southbound 101 On-Ramp’s Full Closure From Hooker Creek Rd. due to drainage work and is expected to end this evening by 7pm.
In Humboldt, Food for People is hosting food distributions in (McKinleyville from 10 until 3:00pm;) Eureka from 10 until 3:45pm; Arcata from 4 until 6pm; Fortuna from 10 until 12:30; and in Garberville from 2 until 4pm.
The Food for People Mobile Pantry will be in Fortuna at Fortuna Adventist Community Services, 2331 Rohnerville Rd, from 10 until 12:30pm.
The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobiles will be at Redwood Memorial Hospital, 3300 Renner Dr, in Fortuna from 10 until 4pm and at Caltrans, 1656 Union St in Eureka from 10 until 3pm. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net.
Tomorrow, Thursday, August 7th, the AHHA Care-A-Van will be in Arcata at the Transit Center Parking lot from 10 until 3pm. AHHA Care-A-Van is a three-bathroom trailer with showers. They also distribute clothing, food, and hygiene supplies and help individuals connect with services.
In Mendocino, the Mendocino Food Network is hosting food distributions in Ukiah from noon until 4pm; Fort Bragg from 10 until 3:45pm; and in Willits from 1 until 4:30pm.
(No need to read the following lunch announcements at 3pm.) Lunches are provided for seniors at the Willits Senior Center from 11:45 until 1:00pm, and the Redwood Coast Seniors Center in Fort Bragg from 11:30 until 1:15pm. Plowshares Peace and Justice Center in Ukiah provides a hot meal weekdays from 11:30 until noon.
Meals are provided Monday through Friday at Willits Daily Bread from 4:30 to 5:30pm and at the Mendocino Coast Hospitality House in Fort Bragg at 3pm.
