KMUD’s new Community Resources and Calendar page is now live on the KMUD website, kmud.org, under the COMMUNITY dropdown menu. Our improved calendar provides addresses, phone numbers and up to date information for farmers markets, food distributions, public meals, blood drives and other community services. 

Today, Tuesday, August 26th,  Humboldt, Mendocino, Del Norte and Trinity and Counties have suspended all burns at this time. 

Today and every Tuesday of the season, the Shelter Cove Farmers’ Market, and the Old Town Farmers’ Market and the Fortuna Farmers Market, are offering up the freshest Humboldt-County-Grown and GMO-free produce along with plants, meats and other wonderful products. The Fortuna Farmers’ Market is open from 3 to 6 pm and is located on 10th Street between Main and L Street in downtown Fortuna.  The Shelter Cove Farmers’ Market is located at Mario’s Marina and is open from 11 am to 3 pm. The Old Town Farmers’ Market is located in Old Town Eureka next to the Gazebo and is open from 10 am to 1pm.

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at Blue Lake Rancheria located at 777 Casino Way from 10:30 am to 4 pm, and at Sutter Coast Hospital located at 800 E. Washington Boulevard in Crescent City from 11 am until 4 pm. And as always, individuals can donate at the blood bank daily, Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. Food for People will be hosting food distributions around Humboldt County today. The Eureka Choice Pantry located at 307 W 14th Street will be open from 10 am until 3:45 pm today.  And in Garberville, the pantry at 437 Maple Lane will be hosting a distribution from 2 to 4 pm.   The McKinleyville Pantry at 1615 Heartwood Drive will be open from 10 am until 3 pm.

Mendocino County residents, the Round Valley Food Pantry has a food distribution today from 12 noon to 2 pm at 23925 Howard Street in Covelo at the Library Building. For information, call 472-2601.  For a hot meal, residents can visit Willits Daily Bread, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 111 E. Commercial Street in Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Additionally, the Anderson Valley Senior Center has hot meals available for dinner today at the Veterans Hall in Booneville. For details, call 895-3609. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program.
