Weather & Tides-August 28, 2025

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE REPORT

Thursday, August 28th, 2025

SYNOPSIS: Temperatures remain around seasonal norms through at least early next week. Dry conditions will persist with no precipitation expected. Coastal cloudcover will remain relatively persistent through this week.

TODAY:

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 90. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Along the Coast: Partly sunny, with a high near 64. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT:

Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 50. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. Light and variable wind.

Extended Forecast: Thunderstorms that brushed far northeast Trinity County have now ended as monsoonal moisture moves out. Along the coast, a deep layer of low clouds and fog is keeping skies gray, especially near Humboldt Bay, with some improvement in coastal clearing expected by Friday and into the weekend. An offshore low-pressure system will pass by slowly, but it’s expected to stay far enough away that rain chances remain essentially zero, aside from a small chance near the Oregon border. Early next week, the system may loop back west, which could bring a slight inland warm-up—or, if a weaker trough forms nearby, it could instead allow monsoonal moisture and thunderstorm chances to return.
